In Round One of ![[info]]()
stargate_las, I wrote 11 stories (7 SG1, 3 SGA and 1 SGU), mostly of the gen variety, and got six wins divided across all three series. I'm not doing Round Two, because I want to focus on my WIPs, but in general I thought it was a lot of fun, and was a great way to start writing again. Also, I learned that I kind of have a habit of playing fast and loose with time.
So, here's the roundup. Some stories were posted as I went along, but many were recently added and back-dated so as not to clog flists. I streamlined and standardized the boilerplate info, but it's still just too long to do without a cut. So, I'm just going to divide it up by series and give a little teaser, so there's an idea of what to expect.
Stargate SG-1
In this category, Cam, Daniel and Vala all get some interesting backstories, Jonas Quinn has a little bit of a breakdown, Teal'c compares Tauri children to Jaffa children, Divide and Conquer ends differently (but not really) and there's even a little bit of the smoochies (in a mildly tragic way).
Title: Looking Back
Character/Relationships: Daniel Jackson
Warnings: Hostage situation (nothing worse than has been on the show), childhood bullying, a contrived situation and bad made-up names.
Notes: Winner of LAS Challenge 2: A character does something brave but stupid.
Daniel had always been good at hiding. It wasn't cowardice; it was pragmatism.
Title: Crashing Down
Character/Relationships: Cameron Mitchell
Warnings: It might be a uncomfortable for anyone who's had a seriously ill/injured loved one recently,
Notes: Entry for LAS Challenge 4: A character at 10.
Cam's world came crashing down when he was 10 years old.
Title: Love, Hope and Sacrifice
Character/Relationships: Samantha Carter, Teal'c, Martouf
Warnings: Canon character death

A couple dozen languages still can't supply Daniel with the right words to explain himself to Jack.

Toppling a god -- even a false one -- took greater effort than anything he had ever attempted and Teal'c could not afford the luxury of worrying over the ones he loved.

Vala began learning the art of thievery when she was very young.
Stargate Atlantis
In this category, Rodney invokes the Three Stooges, argues with Sheppard over appropriate gifts for children, and Ronon learns to dance.

Notes: Entry for LAS Challenge 5: Alone. This is probably the closest to comedy I will ever get.
Trapped alone in a Genii bunker, Rodney turns to thoughts of his team and childhood memories to make his escape

Gift-giving is hard.

Notes: Winner for LAS Challenge 13: Dancing the Night Away. Set pre-series, during Ronon's time as a runner.
Laughter and music filled the air, and an admirer's glance was all it took to get the townsfolk dancing.
